"As if Philadelphians needed another reason to take it outside this summer, USA TODAY and 10Best have just provided even more motivation to plan on outdoor recreation.

After a nomination by a panel of outdoors experts and four weeks of reader voting, the USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards were announced today and Philadelphia’s Schuylkill River Trail ranks as the number one urban trail in the country.

The first-prize-winning path meanders along the Schuylkill River and bears more than 20,000 runners, walkers, bikers and commuters every year.

Most know it for the uber-popular segment that runs through the heart of downtown Philadelphia — including the recently added Schuylkill Banks Boardwalk — but the Schuylkill River Trail actually runs for more than 60 miles and counting."
